Liz is the name. Procrastination is the game.

I am driving up to DC in a matter of hours, meeting up with a friend, and then jumping a plane bound for Boston. That being said, I still need to:
  • pay bills
  • finalize upcoming bloggy blog posts
  • find checkbook
  • get ca$h
  • pack cloths
  • find suitcase
  • pack anti-snow wear
  • charge iPod (not the one that was stolen)
  • find iPod charger
  • load tote bag with goodies
  • find Sudoku book
  • pack Dramamine!
  • borrow Mom's GPS
... bring on the fun.

Too Much?

Recently a friend commented on a picture I took of overflowing books shelves, "Ugh I love all those books. It is my dream to be like Scrooge McDuck with only books instead of gold coins. I want to swim in them ... weird?"

You remember Scrooge, right?

... as for whether or not that is a strange aspiration ... heck no, check out what I would dive into if possible:
  • money
  • books
  • Post-Its
  • Urban Outfitters gift cards
  • Chipotle Burrito Bowl
  • Lego's
  • hoodies
  • snow
  • iPods/ music
  • Miller High Life
  • Starbucks cups filled with tasty beverages ... assuming I won't get burned
  • chocolate meringue pie

17 February 2010

On Monday I went to my car just to discover the contents of my console and glove box strewn about and my iPod nowhere to be found. UGH! I get that this was a quick, 'grab gadgets worth money' gig ... but nonetheless check out what these grimy bastards didn't take:
  • U.S. Presidents Trivia Card Game
  • lucky rock from Buckroe Beach
  • tee shirt from last years Shamrock Marathon
  • collapsible cooler from Bass Pro Shops
  • green jacket
  • pillow with Snoopy pillowcase
  • pocket Bible ... while I am not the pocket Bible toting girl type, I tripped over this one on the way to my car at G.Mason one day while it was raining ... and I just felt guilty leaving it there ... since then it has resided in my car
  • CD's:
  • MGMT, DMB, Damien Rice, Third Eye Blind, Kings of Leon, O.A.R., ... and last but not least - the Serendipity Soundtrack
  • cold hard cash:
  • $2.33 in change

Do or Die

I put forth a lot of effort to avoid crappy t.v. but it just seems to follow me around, I swear. Have you seen that new show on MTV called The Buried Life? I actually haven't either, but I have seen the commercials, and I did check out the website. Long story short: four guys traveling around crossing stuff off their 100 item bucket list. My favorites include:
  • #3 get a tattoo
  • #9 destroy a computer
  • #25 drive across North America
  • #44 catch something and eat it
  • #65 learn to sail
  • #76 go dog sledding
  • ... and who could resist:
  • #79 dance with Ellen Degeneres
  • #100 go to space

I am cool? Here are a few things that the boys have yet to do ... but I have:
  • #11 get a college degree
  • #48 skydive
  • #54 donate blood
  • #62 be in a protest
  • #88 jump off a waterfall
I'm totally hooked on these boys; they seem so free spirited and hip. Want more? ... check out their complete list.

    •  If I were a book, I would be a good book and be paper. Lots of people would read me.

  • 17 Dec 1991: "Good things about the holidays"
    • I like to get two weeks off from school. And we get prients.
  • 6 Jan. 1992: "I want to forget"
    • I want to forget to come to school. And to do my home work.
  • 31 Jan. 1992: "It was nice when ..."
    • It was nice when I went to the stichu of Liberty. It was fun and I liked it. [*]
  • 17 March 1992: Dear Mr. Lepechaun ...
    • How are you? I am fine. Why do you where green? Will you bring me a pot of gold? Thinks. Your Friend, Elizabeth
  • 27 March 1992: "I'd like to sell"
    • I'd like to sell my brother he cryies to much.
  • 28 May 1992: "I'd be glad if ..."

King of Pop Culture, Snow

I awoke to snow this morning, again. Such a rarity for these parts ... but let's face it, 'snow' is all around us:
  • Homer Simpson as Mr. Plow
  • Snow Cones

  • Apple's Snow Leopard
  • and lastly, movies with the best snow scenes/ themes:
  • Snow Day ... such a good flick
  • The Christmas Story ... on Christmas morning when Ralphie looks out his window at the newly fallen snow ... love it
  • White Christmas, duh
  • Elf ... the snowball fight
  • Frosty the Snowman ... when Frosty goes in the greenhouse and starts to melt ... ugh, it still upsets me
  • Honorable Snow-ish Mention:
  • ... the iceberg in Titanic

Gimme, Gimme

Ever since I purchased Baby Mac, my mind has been running wild with other things that I want:
  • Timbuk2 bag
  • iPad
  • Nano ... in orange?
  • orange kitten
  • shopping spree at Urban Outfitters ... and American Apparel ... and H&M
  • shopping spree at Barnes & Noble
  • bookends
  • go to Starbucks whenever I feel like it
  • gym membership
  • digital camera
  • 'real' camera
  • rain boots
  • a pair of RayBans
  • get some new Moleskines
  • peace & quiet
  • an enjoyable job
  • ... and I'd like to be tan.
Is it bad to want things? I suppose it's better to want things as opposed to be being reckless and spending money on things that I really can't afford right now. What's on your list of wants?

Welcome, Baby Mac

On Friday, January 29th 2010, at approximately 4.00pm FedEx delivered Baby Mac to the Liz residence. Mac is healthy, happy, and weighs approximately 4.5 pounds. He has adjusted well to his new surroundings.

Baby Mac has brought renewed joy to the family, after they suffered the unimaginable loss of Sony back in October 2009. While the family will never forget Sony (and the 1000s of music files, pictures, and documents that will hopefully be retrieved once Liz is able to find the stupid recovery discs that must be somewhere), Mac is a constant reminder that life goes on, and we should appreciate the time we get to spend with our loved ones.

While Mac is less than a week old, he is spry and full of life. He enjoys going online, listening to music, and updating Twitter. We wish him a long and happy life.
